Chiappa Rhino

This unique gun has created quite a stir among handgun enthusiasts. Some hate it, some love it. Put me in the latter category. The main attribute of the Italian-made Chiappa Rhino that has polarized everyone is that the barrel is aligned with the bottom cylinder chamber. (See the 2nd photo.)  This was done to reduce recoil and muzzle flip. The gun has certainly succeeded in this respect – it is very easy on the hands, and provides the shooter with more accurate follow-up shots due to the almost-non-existent flip. As for easy on the eyes… well that, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder 🙂 The 2-inch barrel Rhino you see here gives new meaning to the term “snub-nose.” The longer-barrel Rhinos are equally unique looking – I’d say they have more of a futuristic look to them. I own the 2-inch for ease of carry. You’ll notice the cylinder has flat sides. This furthers comfort and conceal-ability. This particular gun is chambered in .357 Magnum, and is double-action only. When I first saw the 2-inch, I thought, “Wow, what an ugly gun!” The more I saw it, the more I liked it. Remember when you saw the Pug dog breed for the first time? Yea, it was kinda like that…
